Based in Wellington
A rare opportunity has arisen for an Actuarial Analyst to join Westpac's Finance team. Reporting to the Head of Actuarial, you will be responsible for reporting and providing input into the life insurance numbers for senior management. A broad role with great exposure across the insurance business, you’ll be required to run the actuarial models as well as various other ad hoc requests and project work. You will establish close working relationships with the wider Insurance team.
What you'll need to succeed
You will enjoy working in a collaborative team, have strong analytical abilities and possess a proactive approach to work. Equally important are your interpersonal skills, strong business acumen and results focused attitude. This role will see you liaise with a number of internal and external parties so your proven ability to build strong relationships and communicate technical information to non-technicians will be key to your success in the role.
We would like to hear from candidates who possess the following:
Experience in life insurance preferably within an actuarial context
Demonstrable knowledge of at least one Actuarial modelling tool, with interest in learning ALGO
A pass in Part I of the Australian exams (or equivalent)
Understanding of the various types of life insurance
Understanding of MoS accounting practices
Deep knowledge of excel
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
An innate curiosity to uncover customers’ needs.
