Do you want an interesting and challenging role in conservation? An opportunity has come up to join the community team based in the Westport Office. The role will see you working with a variety of individuals across organisations and in the community to support conservation in the Buller.
You will need excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills and strive to deliver first-rate relationship management to our staff and stakeholders while responsible for:
- Managing and growing the volunteer programme as well as working with the community and schools to deliver conservation projects• Evaluating and providing input in relation to statutory land administration, RMA, permits and concessions by providing written reports, update the database and undertake follow up when required• Assisting the monitoring and compliance programme through frequent visits to holders of permissions such as mining, grazing and tourism concessions• Organising events and providing media and communications support• Promoting conservation by lifting awareness and educating others on the value of conservation
- Passion and knowledge about conservation • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills• Existing connections to the local community, strong networking skills, and the ability to maintain positive working relationships across a broad range of public and private sector businesses and groups• A proven ability to work under pressure, balance competing demands, meet deadlines and practically solve problems • A tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience, in either project management, conservation management or working with community, iwi or business groups• Understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi• Excellent computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint• NZ full drivers licence to drive a manual vehicle• Good understanding of health and safety in the workplace • A common-sense approach with the ability to work both as part of a team as well as unsupervised
