We currently have an opportunity for an experienced retail assistant in the tourism industry with Chinese language skills to join our whānau!
In the heart of 350 acres of lush farmland, only 10 minutes from the city centre of Rotorua, you'll find Agrodome - a real working sheep and cattle farm that has been loved for over 40 years by visitors from around the globe.
Agrodome's Farm Show and Farm Tour introduce manuhiri (visitors) to what happens on a real Kiwi farm, with the opportunity to hand-feed friendly animals, taste natural kiwifruit juice and sample delicious, sweet honey. Recent additions to Agrodome include the thrilling Back Country Adventure. The Agrodome shops sell a wide range of knitwear, leather garments and skincare products so a willingness to learn about these would be an advantage.
The Retail Assistant/Chinese Translator is responsible for providing excellent customer service to our manuhiri (visitors) while developing quality relationships with suppliers, tour guides and drivers to increase visitors and sales. This role is also responsible for providing translation services for our Farm Shows and Farm Tours.
We currently have one permanent position available, based in Rotorua
A little bit about you
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate:
- Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management
- Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to relate to a variety of cultures
- Experience in both retail and tourism
- Fluency (written and oral) in English, Mandarin and Cantonese
- Good understanding of Chinese practices and customers
- Confidence speaking and translating in front of large groups
We operate seven days a week and applicants must be available to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
