We currently have a vacancy for a Press Secretary in the office of Hon Jenny Salesa, Minister for Building and Construction, Ethnic Communities and Associate Minister of Education, Health, Housing and Urban Development.
The ideal candidate will have recent experience as a journalist or significant background in the wider media, combined with a strong understanding of issues and initiatives of importance to the Minister and her areas of responsibility.
As the Press Secretary you will be responsible for supporting the Minister with the development and promotion of key strategies. The nature of this position requires a person to both anticipate a story before it happens as well as create the narrative.
The position also requires a person to move seamlessly through a range of complex material, who has an eye for detail and the ability to communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences, through a number of channels. You'll need to be confident in writing speeches and news releases with a highly attuned awareness of the current media and political landscape. You will be comfortable and confident to be able to interact in a positive way with a number of key stakeholders.
A requirement of this role is that you are able to hold a security clearance. There are certain criteria that must be met in this regard.
