Fonterra’s Kauri site is one of only 2 in Northland and home to the only fractionation plant in New Zealand producing functional milk fat and speciality milk powders.
With responsibility for maximising productivity, improving quality and provision of technical services to manufacturing the Senior Process Technologist role is an imperative cog in the wheel of success as you train, mentor and direct colleagues towards quick sustainable solutions to technical process problems.
Utilising your technical knowledge and expertise of process technical needs in a manufacturing environment, this role will make use of your project management experience as you optimise existing processes, improve quality and identify and implement solutions with your teams.
During the peak season this plant can process three million litres of milk per day or about 120 tanker loads so the ability to be time sensitive, forward thinking and adaptable to ambiguous needs is vital; the role also offers the opportunity to provide support to the wider business as your reputation grows, building your networks and skill base in multiple areas.
Put your technical expertise to best use, whilst providing coaching to ensure preventions, rather than cures, to problems in the process space at Fonterra’s Kauri plant, based in the Winterless North of New Zealand.

Skills and Experience
This role requires a highly skilled and experienced technologist and to be successful you will need …
A strong background in process improvement, structured problem solving and project management
Previous experience in CIP process is an advantage
The ability to build knowledge and confidence in others through coaching in your area of expertise.
A real drive for results and a commitment to influencing operational excellence
An ability to contribute to broader productivity and quality goals with a flair for change management
A team player mentality with excellent interpersonal and communication skills that will enable you to liaise closely with a variety of key stakeholders
A tertiary qualification within chemical/mechanical engineering or food/dairy technology is highly desirable as is experience in the chemical, pharmaceutical or food industries.
