Purpose of the job:

• To deliver on GirlGuiding NZ’s strategic, national and operational objectives in relation to membership growth and retention

• Achievement of strategic, national and operational objectives for both girl and volunteer growth across GirlGuiding NZ Areas

Job specific responsibilities:

Recruitment of Volunteers

• Undertake recruitment, primarily in Area A, with a primary focus on the recruitment of volunteers • Work effectively as a member of the recruitment team to ensure the timely processing of volunteer

enquiries and placement in units in accordance with organisational good practice guidelines • Work closely with the staff member who is primarily responsible for recruitment of girls to ensure

a seamless approach to recruitment of both girls and volunteers in Area A • In conjunction with staff and key volunteers, closely monitor membership numbers, trends,

waitlists and volunteer changes to ensure a proactive targeted approach to volunteer recruitment which will contribute to girl membership growth

• Contribute to trialling different approaches to volunteer recruitment, e.g. information sessions /group interviews/activities as agreed with Recruitment Manager

• Adapt volunteer recruitment processes within the limits of accepted practice to meet the needs of different ethnic and local groups

Recruitment of Girls

• Assist with the recruitment of girls to ensure timely placement in units during peak periods or staff absences

• In conjunction with other recruitment staff and local co-ordinators monitor girl waiting lists, finding effective solutions to meet volunteer demand to facilitate the placement of girls from waitlists

• Work with unit leaders, local co-ordinators and other recruitment staff on promoting the availability of places in units which have capacity

Recruitment – General

• Identify and implement strategies to drive member growth in conjunction with Recruitment Manager, Communications Manager and other relevant staff and volunteers

• Enhance GirlGuiding NZ’s external profile and develop and strengthen external relationships across the Area in order to grow membership and extend GirlGuiding reach

• Maintain a working knowledge of local demographics and member trends and apply this to contribute to positive growth outcomes

• Undertake a planned approach to recruitment, the expansion of existing units and opening of new units in the relevant Area based on identified needs and opportunities

• Review outcomes of Area recruitment drives and targeted initiatives in conjunction with Recruitment Manager and other staff in order to maximise return on effort

• Identify untapped opportunities or blocks to membership growth in relevant Area and develop plans in conjunction with Recruitment Manager, key staff and key members to overcome these

• Identify and utilise external opportunities and events within Area as agreed with Recruitment Manager for the wider promotion of GirlGuiding

Retention

• Provide assistance to local co-ordinators and regional hub co-ordinators with performance management and conflict resolution as requested

• In conjunction with other staff ensure that a timely review occurs with all new volunteers and their teams post placement in order to review whether their expectations have been met and appropriate ongoing support and development is in place

• Monitor parent and girl feedback and satisfaction and work with other staff and local co-ordinators to ensure continuous improvement

• Maintain an overview of girl and leader satisfaction and work with staff and key volunteers to resolve any barriers to satisfaction

General

• Provide general administration and co-ordination of resources to assist with the smooth running of the office

• Participate in special projects in specialist or other area as opportunities identified • Delivery of key functions of other office members at times of planned and unplanned leave

Qualifications and experience

• Minimum of two year’s proven experience in an HR/ recruitment related role

• Experience in working collaboratively with external organisations

• Experience in working with diverse cultural and ethnic groups

• Experience in a not for profit environment would be an advantage
