Our Operational Policy team develops operational policy, implements regulatory and policy changes, and develops guidance and tools to assist frontline staff and maritime sector participants, to help them understand and meet their statutory responsibilities.
Maritime NZ’s wide range of regulatory functions will allow you to broaden your skill set in a number of different subject areas. These include qualifications, health and safety, transport, marine protection, international conventions, design and construction standards, local government, and emergency preparedness and response.
To be successful in this role you will have proven experience as a senior level policy practitioner, preferably for a regulatory or compliance agency. You will lead by example by bringing a calm presence and excellent communication skills to your work across maritime NZ and with the wider maritime sector. You will enjoy cutting through complex and ambiguous problems, and applying your sound project management skills to see your work through to successful implementation.
