English Tutor Jobs Vacancy in Company Dunedin Jobs Details:
Our tutoring company is recruiting tutors to work for us throughout their Otago University studies in 2018 and beyond.
We can offer 2-4 hours of afternoon work for one or two nights a week on a regular basis throughout the school terms. It takes some time to complete our training (100 hours plus to get confident using the software), so if you know you will not be available for part-time work in Dunedin through 2019 too, please refrain from applying. However if you are in your first year at University, and also intending to study in Otago next year, please read on.
We are looking for one or two English tutors who are reliable, confident with their subject and can make learning fun. We would offer you 5-8 hours work each week throughout the school terms. Initial training is undertaken at minimum wage so that is on the salary info, but most tutors move from this to our "trained tutor" rate within 10 weeks of starting training. Our classes run from 3.30-6.30pm on weekdays. There is some flexibility with the roster, but ideally potential tutors would be available at least two nights out of Mon, Tues and Wed (because we currently have a surplus of English tutors for Thurs and Fri).
Previous tutoring experience is not essential but you must be confident and competent in all aspects of the subject; including spelling, reading comprehension, writing, and grammar to teach to primary and secondary school students. You must have excellent communication skills in order to clearly and effectively explain concepts.
- You must have undertaken NCEA, yourself (mandatory)
- Completed associated NCEA exams
- You are in your first year of study (desirable)
