Lifeguard Part Time Jobs Vacancy in Christchurch City Council Christchurch Jobs Details:
Within the Recreation & Sports Unit, our priority is to create a safe swimming environment for all and to get More People, More Active, More Often. As a Lifeguard at the Christchurch City Council, you will be the key point of contact for our customers on poolside. You will be vigilant at all times while managing risk, customer queries and complaints in an objective manner.
To be successful, you will be a capable swimmer and have the ability to stay calm in busy and pressured situations. You are a responsible individual and have the skills to communicate with a diverse range of customer groups. Our ideal candidates will possess the following qualities:
An ability to work collaboratively in a team, working together to find solutions. You may have been involved in a team, club or community group.
- Attention to detail with great observational skills.
- Passion for the community.
A current Comprehensive First Aid (Level 2) and a Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC) are desirable, however not required to apply.
Important information regarding the process:
As part of the shortlisting process, you will be required to complete a swim test to test your capability in the water. If invited, this will take place on Friday 12th or Saturday 13th July. If you are successful through this, you will then be invited to attend an Assessment Centre on 18th, 19th or 20th July which will take up to 3 hours.
If successful through the assessment centre, and you do not hold a current Pool Lifeguard Practicing Certificate (PLPC) you will be required to undertake two full days of lifeguard training followed by a lifeguard assessment to gain your formal Pool Lifeguard Qualification. This will be provided to you by the Christchurch City Council.
To complete this qualification you will be required to complete or hold a current Comprehensive First Aid Certificate covering Unit Standards 6400, 6401, and 6402 at your own cost.
The training and assessment dates are two 8 hour days and these dates will be confirmed closer to the time. Following on from this there is a one day assessment which will be held the following week.
