Set in 25 hectares of tranquil surroundings, Hamilton Zoo is home to
more than 600 native and exotic animals. We are looking for an Operations
Manager to join the zoo’s leadership group and take charge of the Animal
Operations and Grounds teams.
The Operations Manager is pivotal to the logistics of maintaining and developing the zoo, and will play a critical role in managing the logistics of our facility. This diverse role has a range of responsibilities, including managing our Team Leaders, Zoo Keepers and Maintenance Officers, taking the lead on health and safety, and ensuring the zoo continues to be an interesting, diverse and favoured visitor destination.
You will have a key role to play in delivering the technical aspects of the zoo’s vision and strategy. Working closely with the Zoo Curator, it will be your task ensuring our animal exhibits, welfare and husbandry are maintained to a high standard. Your leadership acumen will ensure you can empower and enable our people, and provide them with the skills and tools for high performance.
We’re looking for someone with at least five years’ experience leading, coordinating, developing and motivating staff in a multi-disciplined team. You’ll have previously managed facility assets, capital budgets and project management, and be experienced in managing health and safety processes in a high-risk environment or large organisation.
The successful candidate will be a motivated team player, with exceptional communication and collaboration skills enabling them to work seamlessly with others and support their team members.

This is a permanent full-time position typically worked Monday to Friday, with some weekend work.
