are highly respected throughout Taranaki, winning Industry Awards, and have recently secured one of the top Contract Milking roles in South Taranaki
within Parininihi ki Waitotara.
This role is for those who want to do well, turn up, put in the work, and learn as much as possible. All on-farm learning (with the hands-on employing
Contract Milker) will be supported with off-farm training and attendance at discussion groups to share knowledge, as well as celebrate success,
amongst the team. The all year around roster is eleven days worked, followed by three days off, throughout the entire season with a maximum working
week of 55 hours. The competitive base salary is set at $48,000 per annum with a tidy three-bedroom home offered in addition to this, valued at
$150 per week, equating to a total remuneration package of $55,800. There are also High School and Primary School buses passing the gate.
The type of people we want to hear from will not necessarily have a lot of experience, they could also be a career changer, but what they do need to be is a good dependable person who knows they pick things up quickly, problem solves, and feels they would enjoy farming. They will be capable of working with others and have a strong love for animals. The appointed candidate will also be a proud person who cares about the quality of their work and understands the importance of the entire team in presenting a tidy and well-run property. All Employees will work within Parininihi ki Waitotara policy and procedures and applicants will require a full NZ Driver Licence.
Areas of responsibility for the Farm Assistant will include;
- Identifying and understanding animal health issues
- Weed control and break feeding
- Stock movement
- Milk production and shed hygiene
- Assisting with calving and mating
- Tractor operation and feeding out
- General farm maintenance
- Reporting information
The property is located in Kapuni of South Taranaki, with a great community, plenty of fishing and both Hawera and Opunake townships just down the road. The farm is 200 hectares of predominantly flat milking platform with sound infrastructure such as a 60-bale rotary that has automatic cup removers and bale arms.
