What you will do
Key area of work will be aiding in the development of the cyber defence of the Army's Tactical Area Network Environment (TĀNE), in conjunction with a small team of IT professionals. A normal day will be a mix of hands on engineering tasks, combined with consulting with and advising other staff on future projects to enhance cyber defence within the NZ Army.
There will also be regular trips out of the office including to Wellington and potentially overseas to engage with other stakeholders.
You will be responsible for the sustainability of cyber security solutions to support the command and control of operational networks.
What we need
As this is new team, you will be sharing your knowledge to develop and mentor the team. There is an opportunity for the successful applicant to shape the capability and use their industry expertise to align NZ Army with best-practice as they establish many of the processes that it will use going forward.
As a subject matter expert, you will have proven industry expertise influencing deployments and security architecture across the deployed Defence Information Environment.
Excellent and effective communication skills, both written and oral, is a requirement as you will work with a range of both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
You will preferably have a tertiary degree in Computer Science, or formal qualifications relevant to and associated with cyber security.
** You must be able obtain and maintain top secret vetting through NZSIS **
Who we are
The Military Network Operations Centre (MILNOC) is a sub-unit of 1st Command Support Regiment (1 CSR). The MILNOC primarily provides a service desk for users and monitors and maintains the garrison and deployed Tactical Area Network Environment (TᾹNE). The MILNOC also completes light scale projects on behalf of the Regimental Technical Cell. A secondary role is to provide network support to Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) training environments.
