Northland Police have a vacancy for an Intelligence Analyst or Trainee Intelligence Analyst) to work in the District Intelligence Unit based in Whangarei. We are also advertising separately for a Senior Intelligence Analyst.
The purpose of this role is to contribute to the delivery of Our Business through the production of high-quality, timely and actionable, nationally-standardised intelligence products that inform and support prevention, intervention and enforcement activities.

Skills - as a Trainee Intelligence Analyst you will be able to:
  • Demonstrate analytical thinking
  • Maintain quality of work under strict timeframes
  • Provide clear and concise verbal briefings
  • Develop and maintain a wide range of positive relationships (internal and external)
Experience - as a Trainee Intelligence Analyst you will have:
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) to develop a high standard of reports/presentations
  • Experience writing clear, succinct and useful documents
  • Experience presenting (written and verbal) issues clearly to a range of audiences
  • Have an interest in crime and criminal justice
Skills - as an Intelligence Analyst you will be able to:
  • Demonstrate analytical thinking
  • Maintain quality of work under strict timeframes
  • Provide clear and concise verbal briefings
  • Develop and maintain a wide range of positive relationships (internal and external)
  • Apply analytical techniques to interpret information for intelligence analysis
  • Apply intelligence processes and principles

Experience - as an Intelligence Analyst you will have:
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) to develop a high standard of reports/presentations
  • Experience writing clear, succinct and useful documents
  • Experience in using a variety of tools and techniques to understand a problem, develop solutions and effectively influence and inform decision making
  • Experience presenting (written and verbal) issues clearly to a range of audiences
  • Have an interest in crime and criminal justice
Special Requirements
Applicants must:
  • Hold the National Diploma in Intelligence Analysis or equivalent. If the NDIA is not held, the applicant must have 2-3 years of relevant experience and be able to complete and submit the required NDIA modules within 12 months of employment. Applicants who do not meet this criteria will be considered for a Trainee Analyst role.

  • Be a New Zealand Citizen or have permanent residency and be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance.
Remuneration range
Trainee Analyst: starting total remuneration $43,864.00
Intelligence Analyst: $55,927.00 - $72,377.00
