An opportunity has arisen to join the OPAC team that is dedicated to growing great fruit, growing great people and growing great communities in an industry facing rapid expansion. OPAC pride themselves on growing, harvesting, packing and cool-storing exceptional quality kiwifruit for supply through Zespri to export markets around the world. With a large post-harvest operation in Opotiki OPAC provide orchard to market services to kiwifruit growers in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, Gisborne and Te Puke areas. With a strong people focus, belief in continuous improvement and innovation, and with recent substantial investments in leading edge technology OPAC are looking for someone to join them on their growing great mission.
Reporting to the IT Manager the Systems Engineer will be responsible for delivering excellent support to OPAC staff with anything ICT related. The Systems Engineer will work closely with an experienced ICT Team to ensure the smooth and effective running of OPAC's systems.
The successful candidate will have a passion for IT, a hunger for learning, and experience with taking ownership of tasks through to completion. Driven to contribute to OPAC's success individuals will need the ability to focus on continuous improvement, striving to be the best they can be and seeking to exceed growers' expectations by ensuring every fruit counts.
Key responsibilities of the role include the following:
• Maintain and develop infrastructure, networks, computer systems and devices
• Helpdesk support and training to all staff in the business
• Desktop, laptop, peripherals, mobile terminal setup and support
• Support and maintain security; firewalls, antivirus and backup systems
• Application software setup and support
Key requirements of this position include the following:
• A can-do attitude with a desire to learn
• An ability to work unsupervised and complete tasks
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Excellent knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure
• Computer hardware maintenance experience
• Application Software installation and support experience
• An industry or academic qualification is preferable but not essential
