The Institute of Natural & Mathematical Sciences seek to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for the research group of Professor Carlo Laing.
In this appointment you will be expected to contribute to the group’s research activities in the modelling of networks of neurons. You will have a strong background in applied mathematics, specifically nonlinear dynamical systems, and experience in numerical computation. Some knowledge of neuroscience, or a willingness to learn, is advantageous.

Job description Purpose statement The Research Fellow will contribute to the research activities of the Institute of Natural & Mathematical Sciences.
Responsible to The Head of Institute via Professor Carlo Laing.
TEACHING / SUPERVISION:
Any other duties as requested by the Head of Institute
Person specification Qualifications PhD in applied mathematics or similar field.
Experience Experience in carrying out independent research ideally in the field of nonlinear dynamical systems/computational neuroscience.
Experience of working as a member of a research team
Scientific publications in a relevant research field
Personal attributes and behaviours Ability to perform independent research
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats
