What you will do
This is a varied and busy role which has five key components; Inventory management, material requirements planning (MRP), procurement support and advice, personnel management and reporting. Captured within all of these areas is the need to develop and maintain relationships with your vendors, customers and key stakeholders.
What we need
We are seeking a person who can bring significant experience from within inventory management and/or supply chain or warehousing/distribution management. This role will see you manage a team of seven inventory controllers; you are a collaborative and inclusive manager who leads by example and who recognises the need to mentor and provide professional development opportunities for your team. An Inventory Performance Analyst will work alongside you to achieve inventory optimisation on behalf of Defence Logistics Command.
Relationship management overarches the key functions of this role. The ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships is essential. In the Defence environment you will be interacting with both military and civilian personnel across the wider organisation. You will value the networks you create and be comfortable communicating and influencing at both the tactical and strategic level.
Proven experience within SAP Business Intelligence and SAP Material Management is highly desirable. It would also be a definite advantage if you have a military background with a good base of organisational knowledge however it’s not essential. Lean/Six Sigma qualified or a like process improvement methodology qualification is mandatory and project management experience/qualification is desirable.

Who we are
The Supply Chain Group is a sub Unit within Logistics Command (Maritime) that is responsible for controlling and supplying equipment and materials primarily to the Royal New Zealand Navy. The group provides a range of supply chain services, including transportation and freight forwarding, material preservation and packaging, warehousing, procurement, inventory management and material data control.
Every hour of every day, 365 days of the year, the New Zealand Defence Force is contributing to the defence, security and well-being of Aotearoa / New Zealand.
