About the Role and what you can expect
This position will take responsibility for leading the development, delivery and coordination of Media Design School’s internal and external communications, content and PR activity to build the School’s profile and brand through highly effective internal and external communications and media management.
Reporting to the Executive Director Marketing & Enrolment, this position will work closely with the Senior Management team to develop and deliver PR and communications strategies, plans and activities that enhance and support the School’s reputation, and help it meet its strategic goals.
The role is also responsible for ensuring the coordinated, consistent and effective delivery of all communications strategies advice, support, collateral and activities across the Media Design School brand, across all of its direct and partner campuses.
Key areas of responsibility include:
PR and Communications Strategy: provide advice and support to the Senior Management team in the development and implementation of PR and communication strategies reflecting our brand and aligned to the Brand’s strategic direction and goals
Media Liaison: oversee the communications quality and consistency of all internal and external communication channels across the School, including print and electronic (internet, intranet and social media)
Social media & reputation management: monitor, manage and integrate Facebook, Twitter, Blog and LinkedIn to align with our brand and overall School strategies. This includes all other social media channels or content sites as appropriate
Copywriting: provide advice and editing expertise to Marketing and partner organisations/locations to ensure advertising, publications, online campaigns, general documents and website material and content is all in line with communication and brand strategies.
Campaigns: Ensure all campaigns and collateral contain appropriate claims, content and USPs at all time, assist in creation of all copy for recruitment campaign assets as necessary and ensure all paid SM assets are updated in a timely fashion Desired Skills and Experience
Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in PR and communications (preferably with experience within the creative technologies and/or education sectors) and a relevant tertiary qualification in either PR or journalism are essential
Possess the knowledge, inter-personal skills and relationship building qualities to rapidly gain credibility with and influence key stakeholders and media at all levels, both externally and internally
Actively seek out and pursue opportunities for professional development as appropriate
Sound knowledge of PR and internal/external communication strategy, with particular strength in media liaison and delivery of strong, consistent PR results
Well-developed ability to critically analyse complex information and reach sound conclusions
Demonstrated fresh and creative writing skills and knowledge of contemporary communications trends
In-depth and up-to-date working knowledge of current industry practices
The ability to be innovative with a demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic plans
Excellent relationship management skills, and proactive and effective management of internal and external relationships, conscious of organisational reputation
Skilled in the planning and organising necessary to effectively manage a complex work environment and tight deadlines
Ability to think outside the square, with the desire to generate creative and practical ideas and solutions to problems
Strong demonstrated writing skills
